Parents are sometimes hesitant and scared that their children’s involvement in sports could lead to injury. But the truth is, they can be doing so much for them by involving them in the wonderful world of sports. No matter who you are, how old you are, how tall, how fast—everyone benefits from engaging in the age-old tradition of sports. First and foremost, they can drastically aid in staying out of obesity which, according to the American Heart Association, is something that one out of three children suffer from. Aside from these benefits of staying in shape and spurring a healthy lifestyle, sports reward you with the feeling many activities can’t match. When you are releasing energy and participating in full enjoyment, your brain is releasing endorphins that you would miss out on just staying at home. Not to mention, you are improving on the fundamental skills of working on a team and building relationships. Few activities and hobbies share teachings with life as much as sports do; as part of a team, you learn to deal with winning and losing, two aspects that seamlessly crossover into everyday life.

Fitness Express was founded in 2002 by Mark Mangrum, former athletic director and Dean of Students at Killian Oaks Academy in Miami, Florida, a school for students with learning disabilities. Mark’s passion for what he does originated from a strong desire to continue pursuing a life of sports despite never been classified as "the athletic kid.” This led to him not only earning an advanced degree in Adapted Physical Education with endorsements in health and science, but also to the state basketball championships at the Special Olympics.

We believe that the healthy and active act of participating in sports can turn someone’s life around in more ways than one. It helps one reach goals that perhaps were deemed as unachievable. All this possible with one of our exceptionally-talented coaches who will be with you every step of the way. Fitness Express guides you to be the best you can be at the greatest sport of all—life.
